What does an IT audit actually cover?

We assess hardware inventory and lifecycle, software licensing, network topology and access controls, data backup and recovery processes, user account management, security configurations, and IT support processes. You receive a written report with findings ranked by risk level, plus a costed action plan.

We already have an internal IT team — why do we need a consultant?
